Announcements and Reminders:
What a full and productive week we have had in second grade! We are certainly feel the shift that October has brought - not only in our chillier mornings, but in the rhythm of our school days. We are working hard, having fun, and building a strong second grade team. Our morning discussions have focused on the students practicing to be thoughtful, empathetic citizens. In their own words, they are practicing "putting others needs before their own wants." We are learning that being thoughtful and gracious is contagious and heart-warming.
Spirit Day (Green and White) Day: (Optional) Students may wear green and white to show their school spirit on Friday.
P.E. class schedule change: We have added a Monday "Just Run" P.E. class on Monday mornings. Students do not need to dress out for this class. We have also changed our regular P.E. class from Monday afternoons to Thursday afternoons. Please refer to our updated schedule.
Field Trips: We have booked two field trips for October! Our first field trip is to Asilomar tide pools on Tuesday, October 15. Also, we plan to visit Hacienda Hay and Feed ("pumpkin patch") on Monday, October 28. You are welcome to join us on this trip as well. Please let us know if you will be joining us on either trip.
Wednesday arrival and dress: The second graders have Dance and P.E. first period Wednesday morning (8:00). It is important they arrive on time and ready for these classes. 2nd Grade girls should wear their dance leotard underneath their P.E. clothes and the boys should come dressed in their P.E. clothes. They will change into their uniforms at the end of their Dance and P.E. classes. Thank you so much!
Assessments and Conferences: We continue to gather information about our students through assessment. We look forward to sharing your second grader's learning progress and setting goals in our conferences on Friday and Saturday, October 18 & 19.
